Now, THIS episode was a crowdpleaser! You just can’t go wrong with DISCO HORROR!

Generally, vanity projects come off as embarrassing and entitled, but in the case of 1979's Nocturna: Granddaughter of Dracula the result is quite charming, if not inspirational. The brainchild of Nai Bonet, a Vietnamese belly-dancer who was having a hard time breaking into Hollywood, so she decided to write and produce a movie to show off her acting and dancing. And what better vehicle than a cheerfully silly disco vampire horror-comedy? Nocturna also features a stellar cast of supporting horror players: Yvonne De Carlo (The Munsters), Brother Theodore (The Burbs), and John Carradine goofing on his famous Count Dracula performances from the Universal Monsters days.

Host Josh Miller set the mood with a fun pre-show featuring interviews, music videos (Do the JELLY BELLY!), clips of Brother Theodore on Letterman, and lots of fun NOCTURNA-related trivia.

NIGHT FRIGHT (Formerly Friday Night Frights) is hosted by Josh Miller.

About Josh: Writer, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. Host, Best Movies Never Made podcast and Friday Night Frights. Creator, Golan the Insatiable.
